The Red Cross has downsized their proposed headquarters, and have released a couple of renderings, which have been posted in the most recent Department of Metropolitan Development’s Regional Center(page 69)Â staff report.
It appears to fit in relatively well with the other structures that are further north on Meridian Street. It will take up a smaller lot, and free up more land for future development, which is good to see. This is a key component in the great parcel migration. Next will be the Mass Avenue Fire Station‘s move to the current Red Cross land. Also, the Fire Fighter’s Credit Union will move farther up Mass Ave, which will then open up a key parcel in the heart of the Mass Ave district. The proposal for that critical lot will hopefully be improved upon, as have the Fire Station, the Red Cross, and the Credit Union.
That’s a surprisingly good homage to the old FOX59 building on the site (now-demolished, it had once been a radio station https://www.google.com/maps/@39.787037,-86.157318,3a,75y,231.25h,94.09t/data=!3m5!1e1!3m3!1sxzh7n4A6wJisM7FbLaxfag!2e0!5s20110601T000000!6m1!1e1?hl=en)
and to the former WFYI building across the street (now Apparatus, https://www.google.com/maps/@39.785734,-86.157367,3a,75y,38.41h,87.99t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sGw0L09boT1Yx_voZRdqXEA!2e0!6m1!1e1?hl=en)
