As promised, when significant visual changes occur, I will be here to post some new photographs showing the changes. I stopped by on 4/26/2011 and snapped a few photos in the late afternoon of the latest progress. I do not know what all of this structure functions as, but it looks a bit like railroad ties to me at this point in time. Wishful thinking I suppose.
Previous updates:
Curt, it looks like a support and drainage structure for the wood deck that will be in the middle of the street.
I heard from an employee of a business down there that it’s not going to be finished until November, but that it’s two months behind. She said she’s never seen anyone working there and she gets to work at 3:30 or so.
Has anyone heard anything about the “police museum” that is planning to take the space on the SW corner of Georgia St. and Pennsylvania St.? I am not sure what is in the upper levels of this building, but the first floor is prime for retail that compliments the new pedestrian zone, rather than a police museum that doesn’t sound too appealing. At the very least, perhaps they could move the museum up a floor or two so it doesn’t waste the valuable first floor?
I had not heard about this police museum prior. Will have to look into this.
As for finishing this on schedule, I fail to imagine any circumstance where it would NOT get done on schedule especially with the Super Bowl planned shortly after the completion.
