Meet-Up: The North Split Public Open House

Today, from 3-7 pm, INDOT will have their public open house for the North Split project. I am planning on attending, along with many other concerned local citizens. We are very worried about a wider, less attractive, and more intrusive elevated road right next to some of the most valuable real estate in the entire state. The meeting time and location are listed below:

When: Wednesday, May 23, 2018, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Presentations will be given at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Where:  Biltwell Event Center
950 S. White River Parkway S. Drive

Below are a few of the less intrusive renderings that are provided on INDOT’s system level analysis page. Keep checking Urban Indy in the next few weeks, as we intend to blog about the history and possible future of the downtown interstate highway.

  • Kevin, how did it go yesterday?

  • Well that was most uninformative. Didn’t cover anything that hasn’t already been out in the news and online.

My favorite part was a statement saying they didn’t consider any other alternatives until people complained earlier this year. Great forward thinking INDOT!

  • Well lookee here. You and your urbanization fetishists have spent the last 2-3 years crapping all over residents and business owners worried about the negative impacts of the Red Line and big box overdevelopment in their neighborhoods. And now here you are, transforming instantly into loser handwringing NIMBYs over PROGRESS affecting your beloved quiet, historical and lovely neighborhood. JUST SELL YOUR HOUSE, KEVIN, isn’t that what you and your pals advise everyone who doesn’t embrace your view? That highway will move people around faster, allowing them to get to their jobs quicker, make more money, and pay more taxes!Hypocrite.

  • A whole lotta hate in this comment, but I’ve never been one to tell people to sell their house for the Red Line project.

But at least I use my real name, unlike some, who like to take anonymous potshots.
