Shayla Williamson

Hi, I’m Shayla.  I’ve lived here in Indianapolis my whole life, but I have had the opportunity to live in other cities.  I grew up on the east side, went to school on the north side, college at DePauw in Greencastle, and then medical school in the Caribbean in Antigua.  In my last 2 years of medical school, I rotated in Pontiac, MI, Chicago, IL, and Brooklyn, NY.  So I have had my fair share of small town and big city living, along with a little bit of island life mixed in.  I’m currently working temporarily at a company on the north side while looking to go into clinical research or obtain a residency in psychiatry.  Living in other places allowed me to appreciate Indianapolis more, while understanding what it could do better.  My contribution to Urban Indy consists of analyzing our current transit infrastructure and the initiatives in place that will hopefully improve that infrastructure in the near future.
