Indianapolis has been ramping up Green projects lately. Here’s a sampling:
- The Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce has a Green Business Initiative. The Chamber is also planning a trip to Denver to study Mass Transit and Regional Cooperation.
- From yesterday’s Star: A Downtown hotel wants to power itself with the aid of the sun.
- Our long-term bike lane plan, posted by benjaminooo over on Skyscraper City.
- A common sense solution to sewer filtration.
There has to be more out there that I’m not familiar with. I believe that there is a growing sense that we can not continue down the path that led us to this point.
*addendum* apologies for all of the different fonts. Blogger doesn’t like copy-and-paste occasionally.
And the airport is applying for LEED certification
Yes, that’s certainly a good move.
Republic, Indy’s trash carrier, is going to start recycling CARDBOARD!
Here’s an article from the Star: http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081009/LOCAL/81009043.
Yes, and I discovered this last Friday. We were delivered one of those ginormous containers. Not only will they take cardboard, but paperboard as well. That will dramatically reduce the amount of recycling that I have to take to the near south side. If they start taking 3-7 plastic, then hallelujah!
See the recent Urban Times and NUVO for articles on a new Cultural Center and affordable housing complex for the performing arts community to be located in the Mass Ave area with a goal of LEED Platinum
That’s right, I saw that. Thank you.
