Downtown Project proposals

After focusing in projects under construction last week, this post will list proposed projects Downtown. Because of the change at the mayor’s office, I’m not sure if any of these projects have a confirmed groundbreaking yet.

Ralston Square, a midrise just south of the tracks. They are going for a green roof and LEED-certification with this project, which will be mixed use.

SODO will attempt to capitalize on Lucas Oil Stadium and provide a large entertainment and shopping venue.

Penn Centre, pictured at the top of the post, is a planned hotel in the parking lot across from Conseco Fieldhouse. It also features a green roof.

JW Marriott is another hotel, and is located north of Victory Field. A tall but bland structure. It is better than the suburban-style hotel there now, but we should do better than this.

A couple of small (but nice) infill buildings on South Meridian Street, here and here.

Chatham Center, mentioned on this blog many times. The Urban Times Newsletter reports that they are shooting for a January start date.

A proposed hotel on the canal. This may be the most up-in-the air project yet as environmental groups are hoping to preserve the land as a park.

Last, but certainly not least, are the Market Square proposals. News on this front has been pretty quiet.
